Reflection
This project demonstrates my understanding and ability to meet the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices. Throught this project I was able to reflect on my teaching and learning accomplishments. As a teacher, we are not only instructors but learners as well, we never stop learning. Through this journey as a student in Edison's Education program, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in this specified area of study! My strengths within the FEAPS are assessment, diversity, knowledge of subject area, planning, learning environments, role of teacher and technology. I am comfortable with the rest but, I feel I have a very good grasp on these 7 FEAPS. I have come so far in my journey to become a teacher, I have put in 5 long hard years of schooling and have a whole new level of respect for teachers, after having experienced what I have in my field experiences and this final internship. I've gained so much experience and knowledge in this profession over the last 2 years in this program. I feel Edison has prepared me with everything I need to be a very successfull teacher. After having completed the assignments in my ESOL classes for my endorsement, I gained a good understanding of how to meet these children's independant needs in a mainstream classroom. Furthermore, completing the ARI project in my reading class helped prepare me with the knowledge of how to conduct running records and help my struggling readers to become better readers. I am shocked at the fact of how many students here in 6th grade, cannot read well. It doesn't matter what grade you teach, reading strategies and running records are beneficial in helping your students become better readers. The extra curricular classes we took, like art in the elementary classroom and music, has prepared me to teach even in these specified areas. Overall, throughout my field experiences, various critical assignments and classes I have gained the knowledge I need to be a successfull teacher of any subject and any grade (k-6).
